Comparison of Two Optics: Prototype Optics vs. Production Optics

In this article we will look at the cost implications associated with knife originality and production, as well as the cost factors involved in shipping.

No matter what size your customized optical device is, manufacturing requires time and skill. As buyers, of course we hope to receive the express delivery as soon as possible, but I believe you will also have questions about the quality of this product. Therefore, after you place an order for production in our factory, we need to conduct product testing and verify the performance of the product. We aim to make efficient, economical, and high-quality products.

Planes/Flats and Spheres are our production features, in which you grind/polish one side, turn it over, and then grind the other side. This process is very difficult to achieve, and it is necessary to ensure that the surface is parallel, which will have an impact on the transmitted wave error. Using a single-sided process, 2-5 waves can be easily polished on the clear aperture with typical non-precision tolerances. In double-sided polishing, both surfaces of the glass are polished simultaneously. This results in a highly uniform thickness and parallel surfaces on both sides. So the process is still very difficult.

Our factory is equipped with small, medium and large machines, allowing us to fulfill customers with small batch orders without interrupting our manufacturing queue for high-volume production. Medium and large machines carry out most of our production work.

Optical lens manufacturing, plano-convex lens manufacturing, how are lenses made?

The CNC machine will remove most of the material. After the lens is created and finely ground, it is polished. Whether convex or concave, your choices are generally the same. You can polish individual parts in a process called asphalt polishing needs. Polishing tools are used to achieve the inversion of the lens shape. Pitch is applied to the tool and is the layer between the tool and the optics. Pump in the polish slurry and slowly polish the rough surface smooth. Multi-lens polishing can be used when you can mount multiple components with the same radius to be polished together, combined with CNC pad polishing technology. The process is precisely controlled by computer to achieve exact specification targets. Depending on the manufacturing method, the right tooling is critical to the project.
